Our day starts with us convening at our car yard in Karen. Five hundred seedlings lay in wait for
transferring to their new habitat, Ituru Boys High School in Gatundu.
Our Social Cooperate Responsibility policy is deeply rooted in our commitment to environmental
sustainability and community support. By contributing to reforestation initiatives, we ensure the
direct and indirect involvement of our customers and partners.
For every vehicle we sell, we provide the buyer with 12 indigenous tree seedlings of their choice. This
encourages the customers to directly engage with nature and contribute to ecological conservation.
When a customer is unable to plant the seedlings, Croton Motors takes the responsibility
to donate the seedlings to trusted partners and various reforestation causes ensuring that the trees are planted in regions they will thrive in.
We actively seek and collaborate with like-minded entities and organizations to ensure the fulfillment
of our environmental responsibility. Through these collaborative efforts, we aim to create a significant
and lasting impact on the environment, ensuring that our reforestation initiatives are both sustainable
and far-reaching.
There are many insights shared on the effects the automobile industry has on the environment. While
it is important for us to use cars in our day-to-day life, it is also as important to reduce our carbon
footprint. There are many ways to reduce our carbon footprint and planting trees is our little thing.
On this occasion, we are stepping up our mandate and dedication to champion for the conservation
of our environment by planting 500 more seedlings. This is in line with Kenya’s initiative to plant at
least 15 Billion trees by the year 2032.
The Environmental club from Ituru Boys gives us this opportunity. We are welcomed with a sumptuous
meal, which we share with the students and teachers. The boys are enthusiastic about interacting with
us and proudly share the key projects their Environmental Club is undertaking.
Their eagerness to adopt the young seedlings is truly inspiring. We commence the activity by training the students and teachers on the proper tree planting techniques. These include instructions on digging appropriate-sized holes, proper placement of the seedlings, and the importance of watering and care after planting. The school has designated a
spacious area specifically for tree planting, which is perfect for accommodating our seedlings. To
enhance biodiversity, we have carefully selected a mix of indigenous and exotic seedlings.
With the training complete, the students, teachers, and Croton team take to the field. Armed with
shovels and Jembes, we are ready to start the planting of the new seedlings. As we dig holes and plant
the seedlings throughout the day, more students and teachers join in during their breaks, contributing
to the collective effort. This activity not only helps in greening the school but also instills a sense of
responsibility towards environmental stewardship among all participants.
By the end of the day, the school grounds are transformed with rows of young trees, symbolizing our
shared commitment to sustainability. This event not only achieves our goal of planting 500 seedlings,
but also strengthens our bond with the community and reinforces the importance of preserving our
environment for future generations.
