Car Import Finance
Would you like to import a car from Japan to be financed by your employer or local bank? Typically, local institutions and banks only finance vehicles that are already in Kenya. This in turn limits you to buying only what is locally available. Not anymore. You can now import a vehicle of your choice with our new Croton Motors Import Finance.
With only a 30% deposit of the total value of the car, we will import a vehicle of your choice, clear and register it at the port of Mombasa. Your financing partner will then clear the 70% balance with us, upon which we will hand over the vehicle to you.
This is how our import financing option works:
Agree on Vehicle Specs & Budget
The first step in the car import process is to agree on the vehicle specs i.e. make, model, colour, desired mileage etc. as well as a budget.
On our website you will find numerous options of cars streaming straight from Japanese auctions. When you find a car that you are interested in, simply fill out the inquiry form on the right hand side of the page. This will help us to contact you with more details on the car.
Alternatively, you can call/ visit our office where our sales specialists will take you through various options as available from the auctions.
If you are not sure of which car to import from Japan, or are torn between two options, don’t worry! We will walk you through various models in relation to your needs and answer any questions you might have.
Our goal is to ensure that you get a car that you are happy with.
Confirm the Car and Condition
Having understood what you are looking for and how much you want to spend on it we will then monitor the auctions for matching options.
We will introduce these to you, and when you find one that you are happy with we will go ahead and confirm its condition, using the auction sheet and if necessary, have it physically inspected by our partners in Japan. We will also advice you on when the car will be selling at the auction. If you give us a purchase go ahead, we will move to the next step.
At this point, we will also give you a breakdown of the total cost of the car, factoring in total CIF cost, import duty, shipping fees, port charges, clearing fees, our agency fee and other miscellaneous costs.
Car Purchase & Signing of Sales Agreement
In order for us to purchase the car we require a commitment fee (deposit) of 30% of the total value of the car. At this point we will also sign a legally binding sales agreement which also discusses the payment schedule. Additionally, at this point you will give us relevant details of your financing institution.
When the deposit is received we give a go ahead to our Japanese partners to purchase the car from the auction.
Inspection & Shipping Preparation
Once we have purchased your car from the auction, the next step is for it to undergo mandatory KEBS inspection, conducted by QISJ in Japan. Our Japanese partners will also start the process of deregistering the car and getting it ready for the next available vessel for shipping.
Shipping & Arrival in Mombasa
After all paperwork is completed in Japan your car is shipped out. Shipping takes roughly 27-30 days, depending on several factors. When your car arrives at the port of Mombasa our Kenyan team takes over for clearing and registration.
Local Financing Process
When your car has been cleared and registered at the port of Mombasa we will initiate the NTSA vehicle transfer process in conjunction with your financing institution. Upon completion of the transfer and financing process we will hand over the vehicle to you.
