BMW X1 for sale in Kenya

When it was first unveiled, the first generation E84 X1 was under a different name, BMW concept X1, and that was back in 2008. The overall description of the model is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV. According to some specific dimensions, this first model is seen as having used as inspiration the E91 3 Series Touring Model. In terms of similarity between these two, there is the 109-inch wheelbase, among other similarities. The first generational E84 X1 would debut in the USA market latter in 2012, and the following year the model was modified with a facelift that remade and restyled how the car looks and feels both interior and exterior wise. The changes also saw the diesel model become more insulated against noise, and newly designed headlights, front bumper, tail gaits, and integrated indicators on the mirrors. This model also ushered in the BMW Efficient-Dynamics feature that has become an ongoing feature in all of BMW cars. The steering wheel design was altered as well to improve the aesthetics and functionality of the center console. Under the different models of the petrol engine, there are six options – the 3.0 liter I6 N52B30, the 1.6 liters turbo N20B16, the 2.0-liters I4 N4N46B20, the 2.0 L I4 turbo N20B20 with 181 hp and the 2.0-liters I4 turbo N20B20 with 241 hp, and the 3.0 liters I6 turbo N55B30.

For the diesel engine, there are the 2.0 liter I4 twin-turbo N47D20 engine models for the xDrive23d and xDrive25d models offering 150 kW 201-hp, and 160kW 215-hp respectively. The other diesel engine is the 2.0 liter I4 turbo N47D20 that gave a range of horsepower performance of 114, 141, 161, 174, and 181. The xDrive23d and xDrive25d, at 150 kW 201-hp and 160 kW 215-hp respectively for the diesel engines, can reach 0-62 mph in 7.3 and 6.8 seconds respectively. The sDrive16i is 143 hp, the sDrive18i is 148 hp, the sDrive20i is 181 hp, the xDrive25i is 215 hp or 255 hp, the xDrive28i is 241 hp, and finally the xDrive35i is 300 hp. The transmission for the 5-door SUV X1 E84 model is for the 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 8-speed automatic. This first-generation model sports all the functional features like regenerative braking, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, and considerable storage, especially when the back seats are folded closed.
In 2012, the release of the exclusive X1 Power Ride model was unveiled, an improvement on the Concept K2 Power Ride, that has the option for xDrive35i and xDrive28i, and they have specific xLine features. The paint colors and exteriors are exclusively redesigned with unique decals on the wheel and door arches. The model X1 sDrive16d called the BMW X1 First Responder comes kitted with traffic real-time information navigational system, speed limit information, night vision, heads up display, custom livery, among other design features.

BMW’s F48 X1 model comes in a long wheelbase for the petrol and hybrid versions, as the latter was specifically engineered for the Chinese market. From its predecessor, the wheelbase was increased by 4.3 inches. In this updated model, the front-wheel-drive is based on the UKL2 platform. Buyers have the option of choosing diesel or petrol engines. Diesel engines include the 1.5-liter I3 turbo B37C15U0, 2.0 liters turbo B47C20UO, 2.0 liters I4 turbo B47C20O0, and 2.0 liter I4 twin-turbo B47C20T0. The petrol engines are the 1.5 liters I3 turbo B38A15M1, the 2.0 liter I4 turbo B48A20M0, the 2.0 liters I4 turbo B48A20O0, and the plug-in hybrid 1.5 liters I3 turbo B38A15M1 that also utilizes the electric motor allows for 220 hp plus 358 Nm of torque. The diesel engines for the sDrive16d 114 hp, the sDrive18d 148 hp, the sDrive20d 188 hp, and the sDrive25d 288 hp models are capable of going from 0 to 62 mph in 11.1, 9.2, 7.8, and 6.6 seconds respectively. The petrol engines for the models sDrive18i 141 hp, sDrive20i 189 hp, xDrive25i and xDrive28i both at 228 hp push the BMW X1 speed from 0-62 mph in 9.7, 7.4, and 6.5 seconds respectively. The plug-in hybrid xDrive25Le breathing out 134 hp gets the car accelerating from 0-62 mph in 7.4 seconds, while the other hybrid xDrive25e with its 123 hp reaches that threshold in 7 seconds. So the BMW x1 is no snail on the road when it comes to delivering speed. There are models available with a 6-speed manual transmission, though the sDrive18i model is also available with the 7-speed Steptronic Dual Clutch Transmission DCT since 2018. There is an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission for the other models, and the BMW X1 xDrive25e plug-in hybrid uses the six-speed Steptronic transmission. Other top-line features for this model include 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats, heated leather seats, panoramic sunroof, iDrive system, roof rack, 17-inch alloy rims, xLine, and M Sport trims, and general bigger spaces for headroom and legroom

BMW was not very sure about how to go about things, so a lot of the exterior changes would be described as subtle. The second generation has reshaped headlights, and these constitute the most significant changes to the front. The old vehicle’s large and slightly rounded shape makes it look more aggressive. There is a somewhat wider grille as well with the new offerings and a few changes to the front bumper. It is also worth noting; there is a shorter bonnet and a longer roofline. At the back, there are designed taillights that seem to be inspired by the 1 Series. Things are different from the previous model with more kidney grilles pronounced on the body of the car.

The interior of the second-generation BMW X1 seems more driver-oriented and provides an excellent all-round view of the surrounding. The cockpit is a combination of dials and gauges not only functional but also appealing to the eye. Inside the cabin, the space for cargo looks curvy and large and is chrome fitted. Being of German descent, the BMW X1 interior feels solid and functional. The driver seat is supported on all sides, and there’s a central armrest. The sports and M Sports versions come with much better quality upholstery on the sporty seating. For the second generation, the back seat passengers can enjoy advanced legroom by sliding the seats back to get more space. The battery that is beneath the back seat of the BMW xDrive25e plug-in model may cause less headroom in the back seat, though; the standard size of the boot you get even with this “reduced” space is quite adequate. The floor of the boot is on the same level as the boot entrance meaning the loading and unloading of luggage should be fast and easy. The button-press-close-boot option of the electric tailgate provides a futuristic sporty vibe to the car plus adds to the functionality of the vehicle. At the back, the old model with orange lights display has been traded in for more clear looking indicator style that gives a new profile to the back of the car. For the M-Sport, there is a significant emphasis on the exterior of the model being sporty with custom trimmings and 18-inch wheel rims. There is an M Sports Plus package to be bought that pampers the car with larger wheels 19 inch, larger brakes, Harman/Kardon hi-fi, and seatbelt with the M Sport trim on them.

Similar standard features are available on the second-generation BMW X1 model, including 7 speaker audio system, iDrive infotainment system, Bluetooth phone/audio connection, and USB ports. There is also low mounting of the dashboard for added outside visibility, rear parking sensors, and optional technology pack that provides a rear reversing camera. The 8.8-inch touchscreen and rotary dial make using the infotainment system as simple as possible. The system is also integrated with traffic real-time information along with a sat-nav, dab radio, and CD player features. The standard kit comes with adaptive cruise control and rain-sensing wipers. The entire system handles the connectivity between radio, telephone, Bluetooth devices, sat-nav, and other car commands in a powerful interface that doesn’t lag and responds well to the driver commands

The new BMW X1 Basic Driver Assistance features are included as standard in all the models, though advanced safety packages can be installed at added costs. There is a standard warning system for forward-collision, and this is paired with departure safety warning systems as well as, traffic sign detection and parking sensors. Front, side, and curtain airbags, not to mention traction and stability as well as brake sensors, are part of the base package.
