About the Nissan Note

The Nissan Note supermini/subcompact hatchback, referred to as the Versa Note in other markets, was introduced in 2004. Its first generation rapidly gained popularity when it hit the Kenyan used car market because of its affordability, practicality, and high fuel economy. That popularity grew even more when its improved second generation models hit in 2012. The Note is ideal for urban travel, and makes an excellent daily driver or point A to point B car. In recent years, the Note has also become a favorite among taxi drivers in Nairobi and other major towns in Kenya.

If you are thinking about importing a used Nissan Note to Kenya, the following information will come in handy.

What are the main features of a Nissan Note?

The 2nd-generation Note (2012-2020) features creased bezels, which connect to a broader grille, and chiseled bumper openings to replace the sedan’s yawn. As for the interior, it may feature automatic climate control, cloth seating surfaces, manually adjustable front seats, and more. The high-trim-level Note models may feature a high-tech infotainment system that includes satellite navigation and internet radio and a Nissan Safety Shield suite that may include driver-assistive technologies like blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, intelligent cruise control, and tire pressure monitoring.

How spacious is the Nissan Note?

The 2nd-generation Note models look deceptively small on the outside, but offer a surprisingly roomy cabin with plenty of headroom and legroom in both rows for tall adults. They are notably roomier than the 1st-generation models, so if cabin space is important to you, those are the ones you should go after. The increased cabin space can be attributed to a slight reduction in the size of the wheelbase and clever repackaging of the fuel tank and the rear bumper, according to Nissan.

The luggage space in all models of the Nissan Note is also sufficient at close to 400 liters. Worth noting is that in the 2nd-generation models, the rear seats can be both slid forward and folded down to create more space for cargo.

Is the Nissan Note fuel efficient?

The 2nd generation Note models in Kenya may feature a 1.2 liter three-cylinder petrol engine, a 1.2 liter three-cylinder supercharged petrol engine, or a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine. There is also a 1.5-liter diesel engine variant. The 1.2 liter petrol engines, which are most common, can return up to 25.2 kilometers to the liter; the diesel engine can achieve a fuel economy of 27.7 km/l.

What is the ground clearance of a Nissan Note/ Does the Nissan Note have good ground clearance?

The ground clearance of the Nissan Note is 150 mm or 5.9 inches, which is the average for its class. It is obviously not the best for Kenyan roads because our roads do have a reputation for harshness. The Note should be used for the cities and suburbia.

Can you find spare parts for a used Nissan Note?/ Is it easy to find spare parts for?

The Nissan Note has been in the Kenyan market for many years, so its spare parts should be readily available considering the model is quite popular among the local demographics. Nissan has significantly invested in the Kenyan scene, establishing dealerships across the country. These factors mean the cost of parts acquisition and repair should be relatively low. They can also be sourced at virtually any location in the country.

Is the Nissan Note a reliable car? Does it have good resale value?

Yes, the Nissan Note can be said to be a reliable car. Its owners have not reported any major repair issues with its engine. There have just been reports of electrical problems, though these are not widespread. It is advisable to check for the usual signs of damage and for electrical issues when purchasing a used Nissan Note in Nairobi or other towns in Kenya. Avoid salvage Nissan Notes; prospective customers should also make sure the car has a full service history. Given the right level of maintenance regularly, the Nissan Note should give good utility for a lengthy period of time.

Given that the Note is one of the most affordable subcompact cars on the market, it offers great value for your money because it is roomier than your average subcompact hatchback and is also reliable and easy to maintain.
